Studying dark matter with data science techniques at the LHC
"Dark matter represents one of the main mysteries in our current understanding of the universe and its nature is completely unknown. Dark matter could be made of particles and could be generated in the Large Hadron Collider collisions. This project focuses on models of a QCD-like dark sector which would generate unconventional signatures in LHC collisions. In some cases, the dark particles can decay as soon as they are produced in the collisions in a mixture of lighter dark (invisible) particles and SM particles generating semi-visible jets."
"The parts of DISCnet that I've enjoyed would definitely be how they offer 6 months worth of internships / work experience, having a variety of different fields partnered with DISCnet is also very nice, being confident that you'll find work after graduation is very comforting. The training courses are quite helpful too, both for PhD related work and after."
